CSR Programs in India
Caterpillar
believes in the Power of Responsibility. As part of its Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Caterpillar India Pvt. Ltd. (CIPL)
makes significant contributions to promote the health, welfare, and
economic stability of the communities where we live and work. A number
of initiatives are being carried out to improve the environment,
increase access to clean water, quality education, sanitation and
hygiene components, in order to make the communities more sustainable,
and resilient.
Through
the "Waterbody Conservation" program, CIPL CSR is currently working to
reclaim more than 400 acres of polluted lakes, benefitting over 80,000
families in around 40 villages. In tandem with the Government of India's
"Skill India mission", we aim to help fill the enormous skill gap.
Under the "Education and Skill Development" program, young women and men
from underprivileged families are provided training in operating and
maintenance of heavy earth moving machine (HEMM). Similarly, through the
"Learn and Earn Program" in our manufacturing facilities, we provide
technical training with Diploma certification in Manufacturing
Technology (DMT). So far, more than 1,500 families from economically
disadvantaged sections have benefited from these interventions.
In
addition, CIPL CSR provides infrastructure support to government
schools, Anganwadis, and primary health centres to enhance community
wellbeing and access to basic needs. And whenever a natural disaster
like a flood or a cyclone strikes, we actively participate in relief and
recovery efforts and provide aid and support to the most vulnerable and
affected communities.
